NEW DELHI: SpiceJet on Monday diverted one of its Delhi-Shillong flights to Patna, after one of its birds hit its Delhi-Kochi flight with a hard object. The flight, SEJ-2950, was diverted to make an emergency landing at the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna after a crack was found in its cockpit windshield. The flight landed safely at 8:52 AM with all 80 passengers and crew members safe.
The airport director, Anchal Prakash, has confirmed the incident and is informing passengers of alternative arrangements. "It was due to a technical reason that the flight was diverted, and it landed here safely," said Prakash.
On the same day, another SpiceJet Q400 aircraft had to return to Chennai as it was traveling from Chennai to Kochi when a technical problem came up in mid-air. The aircraft, carrying 117 passengers and crew, safely landed at Chennai International Airport.
A SpiceJet spokesperson said: "The aircraft returned to Chennai due to a technical issue. There were no casualties, and passengers were safely deplaned."
These incidents further reiterate the importance of safety measures taken during air travels as these two flights land without causing any further disturbances. Arrangements have been made for the travelers who suffered the diversion on their onward journeys.
