HYDERABAD: A burglary attempt at a wine shop in Narsingi in Telangana's Medak district took an unexpected turn when the suspect was found lying unconscious on the floor after consuming liquor.
On Monday morning, the owner of Kanakadurga Wine Shop, Parsha Goud, opened the shop and was startled to discover a man sprawled on the floor. He immediately informed the police, who arrived promptly and detained the burglar.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had entered the shop on Sunday night by creating an opening in the asbestos roof. Once inside, he collected cash and liquor bottles in a bag he had brought along. However, before leaving, he consumed some of the alcohol.
By morning, the man was heavily intoxicated and unable to flee. The police took him to a local hospital for treatment before registering a case and arresting him.
Meanwhile, earlier last month, alert locals thwarted a bold attempt to steal equipment from a mobile tower in Aohata, Baksa district of Assam.
Two individuals, Mofidul Islam and Asadul Ali from Khorishalar, Barpeta, were apprehended while descending from the tower, situated at Ranjit Kalita's residence.
The duo, believed to have been involved in similar thefts at other mobile tower sites, were confronted by an enraged mob as they descended. The angry locals physically assaulted the thieves before law enforcement arrived at the scene.
The prompt intervention of the police prevented the situation from worsening and resulted in the arrest of both individuals.
