New Delhi: The former union home minister and Congress veteran leader P. Chidambaram on Tuesday lashed out the Adityanath's led Uttar Pradesh government saying it that the law and order in BJP ruled state seem to mean "Adityanath's law" and "Adityanath's order".

The statement of former minister came into fore after police has detained the AICC general secretary Priaynka Gandhi Vadra was detained by police in Uattar Pradesh and termed it as 'illegal detention'.

P. Chidambaram has said that police in UP is not following the law but following the law of 'Adityanath' and its order.

He also claimed that there is no rule of law in the state of UP and said that the detention of Priyanka is an abuse of power.

"She was "arrested" at 4.30 am on Monday, 4th October. She has been detained in the PAC guest house at Sitapur. The District Collector and the judicial magistrate concerned are both stationed in Sitapur," Chidambaram said.

"The arresting police officer told her she was arrested under Section 151 of the CrPC. Any person arrested under Section 151 cannot be detained for more than 24 hours, unless there is an order of the judicial magistrate under any other provision of law," he added.

He also said that police and government has violated the constitutional rights of Priyanka under Article 19 and 21.

The veteran leader also stated that no woman can be arrested after sunset or before sunrise, adding the Congress general secretary was arrested at 4.30 am, "which is illegal".

However, police said that after an FIR was filed against Priyanka for disturbing peace, she was arrested.
