11 Foreign Dog Breeds Banned In Gurugram After Dog Attacks
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) was instructed to prohibit 11 foreign dog breeds by the district consumer disputes redressal forum.

NEW DELHI: Due to a number of dog attacks in Gurugram and the surrounding areas, the city's consumer forum has urged Municipal Corporation of Gurugram in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi to outlaw certain dog breeds.
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) was instructed to prohibit 11 foreign dog breeds by the district consumer disputes redressal forum after attacks by dogs and it complied.
The directive was given by the Gurugram Consumer Forum in conjunction with its decision to award a woman who suffered serious injuries in an August attack by a pet dog in Civil Lines compensation of Rs 2 lakh. The dog breeds prohibited are:
1. American Bulldog
2. Fila Brasileiro
3. Cane Corso
4. Boerboel
5. Presa Canario
6. Wolf dog
7. Bandog
8. American Pitbull terriers
9. Dogo Argentino
10. Rottweiler
11. Neapolitan Mastiff
Gurugram dog attacks
The woman who was attacked by the pet dog sustained significant head and facial injuries and was sent from Gurugram's civic hospital to Delhi's Safdarjung hospital.
Additionally, the forum stated that the MCG may recoup this compensation sum from the dog's owner if they so desired.
Munni, a victim who works as a domestic assistant in the area, was attacked by Vinit Chikara's dog on August 11 as she and her sister-in-law were going to work.
The dog's breed was listed as "Pitbull" in the FIR that was filed with the Civil Line police station. Later, the owner revealed the breed to be a "Dogo Argentino."
The forum instructed the MCG to seize the dog and immediately revoke Chikara's authorization to keep dogs.
Additionally, it ordered the banning of 11 foreign breeds and told MCG to confine all stray animals after taking them into custody.
The forum also instructed MCG to draught a pet dog policy in three months.
The victim was described as a very poor woman who performed housekeeping duties in other people's homes.
She was to receive compensation in the amount of Rs 2 lakhs, according to the judgment, as temporary relief from the MCG.
