Amitabh Bachchan's Voice will no Longer be Heard on COVID-19 Caller Tune

New Delhi: Good news for the ones who were absolutely done listening to Amitabh Bachchan's voice every time you made a call. A few days ahead of the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine, the caller tune featuring Amitabh Bachchan's voice has been replaced with a new one.

Starting from January 15, you will hear a female voice when you make a call. The new caller tune with female voice will talk about the novel coronavirus vaccination drive in the country. Since March last year, when the COVID-19 pandemic entered our lives, we have been listening to Big B's voice, mentioning all the safety measures one must follow to avoid contracting the deadly virus.

As India gets ready to be vaccinated from January 16, the new caller tune urges the citizens of the country to have faith in the two new vaccines and to not believe in rumours. The new caller tune is introduced as the people of the country are still wary about the vaccine 'COVAXIN' as it has not yet completed its Phase 3 trials. Covaxin along with Oxford University & AstraZeneca's Covishield will be rolled out from January 16 in India.

The new caller tune used Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan 'Dawaai Bhi, kadaai bhi (medicine and caution both)' to request the people to continue taking COVID-19 precautions.

The caller tune reportedly says, "The new year has brought a new ray of hope in the form of vaccines. Vaccines developed in India are safe, effective and will provide immunity."

A lot of people complained about the previous caller tune featuring Amitabh Bachchan's voice, where they were being forced to listen to the caller tune every time they had to make a call. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) too was filed in the Delhi High Court, requesting for the tune to be dropped.
