Arunachal Girl Kills Herself By Jumping off 7th Floor Of Delhi Hospital

New Delhi: A female student hailing from India's Northeastern state Arunachal Pradesh, committed suicide by jumping off the 7th story of the Safdarjung Hospital building in Delhi.

The youngster was declared dead on Wednesday.

Volunteers from Helping Hands, a voluntary service team for the Northeastern ethnic groups in distress, arrived there and are now presently assisting the police with further investigation.

The young lady was a native of Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district.

Earlier in May 2021, a doctor named Vivek Rai committed suicide at one of Delhi's private hospital COVID wards, due to intense anxiety about the ongoing deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

"He was a highly accomplished doctor from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur in saving hundreds of lives during the coronavirus pandemic.", Dr. Ravi Wankhedkar, former Chief of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) stated.

The former chief of IMA revealed that the deceased doctor had been looking after seven to eight critical COVID patients every single day because of which Dr. Vivek Rai fell prey to extreme stress and depression.

"This brings into focus the massive emotional strain while managing the COVID crisis. This death of a young doctor is nothing short of 'murder by the system' for creating frustrations with the scarcity of basic healthcare facilities.", he added.

Another suicidal incident occurred in February 2019, when a Radiologist ended her life by hanging at Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Delhi.
The Delhi Police informed that the 52-year-old doctor, Poonam Vohra, left a note in her bedroom mentioning the names of three doctors against whom she made allegations of "humiliating and harassing" her as she inquired against them.
In her suicidal letter, she accused these three fellow doctors to be the reason for her suicide.
