Both Houses of Indian Parliament Passes Farm Laws Repeal Bill, Congress Slams Govt for 'Not Allowing' Discussion

On the first day of winter session of Parliament, the Lok Sabha passed the Farm laws Repeal Bill and then in Rajya Sabha the matter was discussed for 10 minutes and finally the house too passes farm law bill repeal.

NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha  through a voice note in the parliament today, passed the Farm Law Repeal Bill, and was taken to the in the Rajya Sabha, where LoP Mallikarjun Kharge to speak on the matter and finally Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar said 'there is no need for a discussion on the topic' leading to a sloganeering by the Opposition.

The three contentious farm laws enacted in 2020, for which several organizations, farmers have been protesting from a year ago have been passed today from both the houses of parliament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stated today that the government is ready to address all the questions, "whatever voices are raised against the government or government policies- the dignity of parliament and the speaker's chair should be upheld"

In regards to the bill, Modi requested farmers who are protesting to end and go back to their respective fields and home on November 11, in his address to the nation and also apologies if by saying "if farmers did not understand what we wanted to go through farm laws"

Speaking about the matter, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said that it a tribute to all the 750 framers who lost their lives during the agitation, the protest will continue as other issues of MSP are still pending.

Previously Congress MP led by party Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi staged a protest the parliament over the matter of farm law and also had march in the streets.

Meanwhile, the Congress has slammed the government for "not allowing" a discussion on the farm laws repeal bill.

"The government blames us for not letting the House function. But farm laws repeal bill 2021 was introduced and passed without any discussion. Opposition had demanded a discussion on it. Even though the government has repealed the farm laws, its 'Mann ki Baat' is something else," alleged Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. 

In September 2020, President of India Ram Nath Kovind, gave his assent to the three Agriculture bills that were passed by the Indian Parliament.

These farm acts were

Framers produce trade and commerce (promotion and facilitation) act 2020,

The act was that it permits Intra and Inter state trade of farmers produce beyond the physical premises of Agriculture and produce Market Committee (APMC) markets and other markets.

Framers (Empowerment and protection)

The act creates a national framework for contract framing through an agreement between a buyer and a buyer before the production or rearing of any farm products.

Essential commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020

The act was enacted in 1955 to ensure the delivery of certain commodities or products, the supply of which of obstructed owing to black market, affecting the normal life of people.
