Cannot Prevent Battlegrounds Mobile India from being Released, Notifies IT Ministry

Battlegrounds Mobile India is scheduled to be released in India shortly. When compared to PUBG Mobile, the battle royale game has a distinct moniker. There are, nevertheless, many similarities between the two. The announcement of the game's re-launch has sparked outrage among some reviewers, who feel the game is simply a re-branded version of banned PUBG Mobile.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Home Affairs (MHA), in a response to an RTI filed by a critic of the upcoming video game, Dr. Gaurav Tyagi, an assistant professor at JNU, notified that it cannot prevent the game from being launched in India. However, under the provisions of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act of 2000, it has the power to ban the game once it is launched.

"Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has no role in granting any permission for entry of PUBG or any company/Mobile app in India," stated the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in reponse to the RTI filed.

"MHA does not grant permission for launching any app. Meity issues blocking direction for any mobile applications under the provisions of section 69A of the Information Technology Act,2000 and its rules namely the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information for Public) Rules, 2009, in the interest of sovereignty and integrity of India, security of state and defence of India etc. Regarding vii, CPIO is not supposed to provide opinion under RTI Act," stated the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Battlegrounds Mobile India pre-registration has been accessible from May 18. The game is anticipated to be released as soon as this week although  there has been no formal confirmation as of yet. According to Krafton's recent postings, the game will be released on June 18th.

Krafton now upgraded the website's help system, where they answered several issues and subjects relevant to the game. Fans are anxiously awaiting answers to questions such as how the Royale Pass will function in BGMI, as well as how to partake in in-game events and collect rewards. They also answered questions regarding personalised room cards and how to get into the game.

Krafton confirmed the Indian rebranded version of the game would begin with a Season 1 Royale Pass by upgrading the support system on Battlegrounds Mobile India's official website. This information was released in the game's FAQ section, which answers queries about Custom rooms.
