Bhopal: A massive protest erupted in Berasia town near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh after the carcasses and skeletons of a large number of cows were discovered on Sunday at a centre allegedly run by a BJP worker.

Subsequently, the district authorities registered an FIR against the cowshed director.

After the incident, the local residents and cow vigilantes expressed their anger and protested against the incident. They also demanded strict action against those running the centre.

Meanwhile, the District Collector has ordered a probe into death of cows, and also ordered an autopsy of the cow carcasses.

The collector has also directed the officials concerned to take over the concerned Gaushala.

As per the media reports, the Gaushala is allegedly run by BJP woker Nirmala Devi Shandilya.

The reports further said that a case has been registered under IPC sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) against the operator of Gaushala at the Berasiya police station.

However, Shandilya denied all the allegations of local residents and said that people leave their ill cows here; these carcasses are of those cows which have died due to illness.

''These cows don't belong to our gaushala as it is left behind by outsiders here,'' he added.
