Addressing in his weekly programme 'Sunday Samvad' today, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said the Centre is aware of the recent emerging evidence that COVID-19 may not just be an acute respiratory disease but affects several other organs including the heart.

He also said that generalisation of the results from these studies may be inaccurate, especially in the context of India's population and the issues could become serious. ''we have an expert committee to look into these facets of Covid-19. We have urged our institutions like ICMR to actively study these issues'' said Vardhan.

Vardhan further urged the people to not remove masks inside religious places. He also said that the Centre has already issued an SOP on reopening of religious and other public places and the State Governments are ensuring all safety guidelines are being properly maintained.
