Delhi CM Kejriwal Wins Confidence Vote, BJP Legislators Stage Walk Out

DELHI: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday won the trust vote in the assembly after levelling allegations of MLA-poaching against the BJP.  58 MLAs voted in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party chief. The AAP has 62 MLAs in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, while the ruling BJP has 8.

Kejriwal proposed a confidence motion in the Delhi Assembly after alleging that the opposition BJP's 'Operation Lotus' to topple his government failed as it could not get any of the AAP MLAs to cross over. The motion was tabled in the House on August 29.

"They failed to buy even a single AAP MLA in Delhi. We have 62 MLAs, two are out of country, one in jail. Fourth member is the Speaker of the House," the Delhi CM said after the trust motion was passed.

Kejriwal  alleged that the BJP targeted 40 AAP MLAs and offered them Rs 20 crore each to switch sides.

The BJP reverted and accused Kejriwal of using the assembly for fanning political propaganda and indulging in drama to divert people's attention from the liquor scam of his government.

Meanwhile, the twitter battle between Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Delhi CM Kejriwal is heating up where the former took a jibe at Kejriwal and mocked him by saying that Kejriwal's pre-election promises to turn Delhi into the next New York and Tokyo has fizzled out.

Kejriwal replied that people can compare and see for themselves the condition of schools in Assam and Delhi. Sarma responded with a curt reply by saying that Kejriwal manages 1200 schools and he has 40000 schools at his disposal and Assam is not fortunate enough to enjoy vast amount of wealth like the Delhi government.

Assam CM also proposed five capitals in the country, instead of one, so that wealth is distributed evenly for all the regions of the country.
