Drugs probe: Deepika Padukone & Shraddha Kapoor reach NCB office for questioning

Mumbai: Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone and Shraddha Kapoor today reached the Mumbai Port Trust Guest House in Colaba, from where Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is operating. The actors will be grilled in connection with the investigation into a drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput's death. Deepika arrived at 9.45 am, while Shraddha arrived before noon. Deepika's questioning is underway.

Deepika was summoned by the NCB on Wednesday. The 'Bajirao Mastani' actor reached Mumbai on Thursday with her husband Ranveer Singh. It needs mention here that Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash and Rajput's former manager Shruti Modi were also questioned in the case on Friday. Prakash has been summoned again on Saturday.

The actor became a part of the investigation after WhatsApp messages retrieved from the phone of Rhea Chakraborty revealed conversations on procuring drugs.

In the alleged chat which landed Deepika under scrutiny, she reportedly enquires with Karishma about procuring drugs.

Karishma then again responds to Deepika's message, saying, "Amit has he is carrying it." Deepika then again allegedly enquires, "Hash na. Not weed." Karishma then responds in the affirmative.

Fellow Bollywood actors Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, and Rakul Preet Singh, among others, were also summoned for questioning on the same day.

Shraddha and Sara are also expected to appear before the agency today.

On Friday, Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh was grilled by the NCB for 4 hours. She had reached the guest house at around 10:30 am.

Mutha Ashok Jain, NCB's director-general, told reporters that Singh's statement was recorded by the SIT yesterday, and will be analyzed and produced before the Court.

The NCB launched its probe into a drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death after it received official communication from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to a possible drug nexus in Bollywood.

A First Information Report was filed by Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh against Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar on July 28.

Rhea has been arrested in the drug case.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at Mont Blanc Apartment, Bandra, on June 14.
