Elderly woman thrashed by daughter-in-law, Schoolgirl shot the incident in her phone

Guwahati: An elderly woman of around 80-year-old gets thrashed by her daughter-in-law got caught in the camera and once the video footage leaked, it created a huge uproar in the social media. The outcome is that the accused is booked on charges of assaulting the aged woman.

The incident found in viral video footage is of Niwaz Nagar village in Narnaul town of Mahendragarh district. The video footage that came for the rescue of the old lady from her ill-manner daughter-in-law was shot by a schoolgirl in her phone. All thanks to the schoolgirl that the accused Kanta Devi could be caught red-handed misbehaving and thrashing her elderly mother-in-law Chand Bai. The elderly widow is seen to be held by her hair by the accused.

Narnaul DSP (headquarters) Vinod Kumar said, “We asked the victim and she told us that she was beaten up by her daughter-in-law. We have seen the video which shows the brutal act. The medical examination of the woman has also been conducted and we are waiting for its report. The accused has fled from her home and efforts are being made to arrest her at the earliest.”

He further added that he and his team of women officials reached the spot on immediately being informed about it.

The accused Kanta Devi is booked under Sections 323(punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

In fact, the grandson of the victim and the son of the accused woman, Vipin also confirms that his mother thrashed his grandmother.

As seen in the video, the accused asks her mother-in-law to take care of herself and not to depend on them.

A police official added, “She wanted to get Rs. 30,000 which the victim drew as widow pension.”

Such incidents of mistreatment of the elderly people in their own families are unfortunate and the civic society and the administration must ensure effective measures for the safety and security of the senior citizens of the nation.
