Kolkata: A viral video of women participating in a sindur khela wearing PPE kits at a puja pandal in Kolkata is making rounds on the internet.

The video has been taken from the puja pandal organised by the Amarpalli Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee in the Dumdum area of Kolkata.

The sindur khela is an important ritual observed by the women right before bidding goodbye to Goddess Durga on the day of visarjan.

However, what caught the attention of the viewers is the fact that the sindur khela had the presence of both Hindu and Muslim women who participated in the ritual in harmony.

In this way, the organisers put forward a message of spreading awareness and harmony in these tough times.

Such instances of display of harmony between the two communities are a need of the hour at a time when a political and religious war has been waged between the Hindus and the Muslims.

On Thursday, a mob in Bangladesh attacked Hindu temples where the devotees had gathered on the occasion of Durga Puja celebrations. In the riot that took place that day, 3 people were killed and many others were injured.

Again on Friday, the mob consisting of at least 500 people attacked and vandalised the ISKCON temple which resulted in the death of an ISKCON community member.
