Man Tears Out Passport Pages To Hide Foreign Trip From Wife, Nabbed

Pune: A 32-year-old man from Pune was apprehended for allegedly tearing some pages from his passport in a bid to hide his recent foreign trip from his wife.

As per reports, he did it so that he can hide his extra-marital affair under wraps but was apparently unaware that tampering with the passport is an offense, a police official said on Saturday.

The official further added that the man had visited a foreign country a few days ago to meet his girlfriend.

However, when he came back to India on Thursday night, the immigration officials at the Mumbai airport noticed that some pages of his passport were missing.

Following this when the police questioned him, the man revealed that he had gone abroad to meet his girlfriend after telling his wife that he was travelling for work in India.

When his wife doubted him and called him, he didn't receive her calls, and later thought of tearing pages from the passport so that his wife did not learn where he had been.

He was arrested under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including cheating and forgery.
