PM Modi appeals people to switch lamps-candle lights on April 5 night

Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to all people to switch off lights and light lamps in their homes at 9 pm on Sunday, April 5, 2020, for 9 minutes to show solidarity in the ongoing war against the novel coronavirus pandemic. In a live address to the nation at 9am on Friday, the PM said, “I am calling upon all of you to switch off your all lights at your homes at 9pm on Sunday for 9 minutes. During these 9 minutes, you are appealed to light candlelight or mobile phones’ flashes in their veranda or balcony to show solidarity in this on-going war.” Lauding the people for their co-operation in the on-going war against the pandemic, the PM added, “please, you do not think that you are alone. You are not alone. 130 crore people unitedly are fighting against the novel coronavirus though we are staying indoors. We will win this war.” The Prime Minister on March 24 declared the on-going nationwide lock-down to contain the spread of the COVID-19, which claimed lives of more than 50 people in the country, so far. The lock-down ends on April 14, 2020.
