NEW DELHI : President of India, Droupadi Murmu will confer the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar on the 23rd of January, to 11 children. The award ceremony will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. 

11 exceptional children from across the country will receive the prestigious award. On 24th of January, PM Narendra Modi will have a chat with the Bal Puraskar 2023 winners, as informed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. 

Furthermore, on the same day, Smriti Zubin Irani, the Union Minister, will appreciate the achievers for the tremendous performance in their individual categories. State minister, Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai will also be present during the event. 

Out of the 11 children, 6 are boys and 5 are girls hailing from eleven states and union territories. The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) is a government of India initiative to recognise achievements of children in varied fields.

Children in the age group 5-18 years are presented the Puraskar for their achievements under six categories. These include, Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Scholastic, Social Service and Sports. Each of the winners are given a prize amount of Rs 1 lakh, a certificate along with a medal.

In 2022, 29 children were presented the PMRBP award, selected from all over the country.

Recently, a boy from Assam's Dhekiajuli district has been selected for the National Bravery Award 2023. 13 year old Uttam Tanti with all his courage, rescued a woman and her son during a massive in 2019. Uttam was only 10 years old when the incident took place.

The episode took place as both the mother and her son were carried away by the rising river current. In a blink of an eye, the brave minor jumped into the rising flood. Uttam Tanti, with his quick responses, managed to bring the duo back to the banks by pulling them out of the death.

The 13 year old will be presented the National Bravery Award 2023 on the occasion of Republic Day, 26th of January.
