UP: 17-yr-old girl allegedly raped inside college campus while civil service exam was underway; 8 arrested

Jhansi: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by college students inside a campus on Sunday while Uttar Pradesh provincial civil services (PCS) preliminary exam 2020 was underway. In spite of heavy police deployment at the Jhansi college, the teenager was robbed and filmed by the accused.

Although police were present at the Jhansi college in Uttar Pradesh, the teenager was allegedly robbed and filmed by the accused when the civil services exam was underway. The Class 10 student told police that she was forcibly taken into a hostel room on the campus by a group of college students. She further claimed that she had Rs 2,000 and one of them outraged her modesty while others filmed her. The college students even threatened her to leak video on the internet if she spoke about the incident to anyone, the victim alleged.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the presence of the teenager inside the college campus. According to reports, the victim h police that she was forcibly taken inside the campus when she was meeting a friend in front of the gate, which was unguarded.

Jhansi SSP Dinesh Kumar P told scribes that eight students were arrested in connection with the incident. Further investigations were on, the SSP said.

According to reports, the cries of the woman were heard and she was taken to the Sipri Bazaar police station where she narrated her ordeal to the police. She identified one of the accused as Bharat. Police have registered an FIR under various relevant sections of the law. The arrested have been identified as Rohit Saini, Bharat Kushwaha, Shailendra Nath Pathak, Mayank Shivhare, Vipin Tiwari, Monu Parya, Dharmendra Sen, and Sanjay Kushwaha.

The principal of the college has said that the accused were second-year students. He has further informed that the college authorities are cooperating in the investigation.
