Fake Vaccination Certificate in Uttar Pradesh: A couple earns vaccination certificates without being vaccinated in Uttar Pradesh. Due to a shortage of vaccine at Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, a middle-aged couple in Prayagraj who were unable to receive the first dose of Covid vaccine on the scheduled date of May 8 received certificates of vaccination on their cell phones on the same day.

"Ram Lalu Kesrwani (48) and his wife Savitri Kesarwani, residents of ward no. 60 in Mutthiganj area of the city, were scheduled to get the first dose of vaccine on May 8, as per the registration," ex-corporator Neeraj Gupta told TOI. However, owing to a vaccine shortage at MLN Medical College, the couple was unable to be vaccinated."

"However, the couple was taken aback when, on the same evening, they obtained covid certificates for the first dose of vaccine on their phones. They told senior health and administrative officials about the situation," Gupta said.

Ironically, there was a long list of recipients over 45 years old who did not receive vaccination certificates while receiving both vaccine doses.

Vineet Kumar and his five family members over 45 years old who received the first and second doses of vaccine via the walk-in process on March 12 and April 9 have yet to obtain their certificates.

"The department has received several complaints of recipients who have not received certificates despite getting vaccinated," Dr. Teerath Lal, additional chief medical officer, and district immunisation officer (DIO), told TOI. "The data of the vaccinated beneficiaries are still being uploaded on the portal, and certificates are being sent to their phone numbers as a result," he added. 

India recorded more than 3,50,000 cases were recorded taking the total novel coronavirus cases in the country to 2,40,60,000 cases. The active cases are more than 37,00,000. With the case graph going up almost vertically every day, we must strictly follow the rules and guidelines set by our State Governments and the Government of India.

3.5 lakh people were vaccinated yesterday, taking the total number of vaccine doses administered to 1,13,446.
