NEW DELHI: At Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport's security check, a woman claimed on Tuesday that she was asked to remove her shirt. She called the incident "humiliating" and claimed that it occurred. She asked why the Bengaluru airport needed a woman to strip while recounting her trauma on the microblogging website Twitter.

She stated that while waiting at the security checkpoint in nothing more than a camisole, she received unwanted attention.

"I was asked to remove my shirt at Bengaluru airport during security check. It was really humiliating to stand there at the security checkpoint wearing just a camisole and getting the kind of attention you'd never want as a woman. @BLRAirport Why would you need a woman to strip?, " a tweet read by Krishani Gadhvi who is a student and a musician.

Many internet users, including the Bengaluru airport, were made aware of this. The airport apologised and assured them that they had escalated the situation to the security personnel.

"Hello @KrishaniGadhvi, we deeply regret the hassle caused and this should not have happened. We have highlighted this to our operations team and also escalated it to the security team managed by CISF (Central Industrial Security force) a Government sovereign," a tweet read by Airport Authorities.

To learn more about the incident, they also requested Gadhvi's contact information.

"Kindly DM your contact details for our team to connect with you at the earliest," a separate tweet read by them.

"Hello @KrishaniGadhvi, we deeply regret the hassle caused and this should not have happened. We have highlighted this to our operations team and also escalated it to the security team managed by CISF (Central Industrial Security force) a Government sovereign, " they added.

Gadhvi's route may have been domestic or international, but this is unclear. International passengers are being screened at the Kempegowda International Airport for the Covid-19 virus after six nations, including China and Japan, made home quarantine a requirement.
