Agatha on MLAs not supporting MDA

A Reporter

SHILLONG, May 27: The spokesperson of the National People’s Party (NPP) Agatha Sangma has expressed that the hesitation of two MLAs to support the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government led by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma might be because of fear after the poor performance of the previous Congress-led Government in the state.

Speaking to The Sentinel, Sangma said, “It might be that these two MLAs who are not with the ruling or with the opposition are hesitant to support the MDA government because the previous government under the leadership of then Chief Minister Mukul Sangma had preformed badly.”

She said the present MDA Government is working tirelessly to ensure development is being initiated in every part of the state, especially in the villages of Meghalaya.

Sangma said that the NPP is willing to welcome the two MLAs to the MDA Government. However, she said that no one will be able to force them to support the ruling government.

It may be mentioned that on April this year Sangma said that to achieve a stable and strong government there is a need to gain the support of those MLAs who are neither with the ruling government nor with the opposition. These two MLAs are Adelbert Nongrum from North Shillong constituency and SK Sunn from Mawphlang constituency.
