AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal on the verge of winning Dhubri Lok Sabha seat defeating his Congress counterpart

Dhubri: With a total vote of 664933 votes, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has ensured that the Dhubri Lok Sabha seat is captured by him. Ajmal is leading the vote tally leaving behind his Indian National Congress rival Abu Taher Bepari who by far has gained 436534 votes. This makes Ajmal lead by a margin of more than 2 lakh votes.

Before this, Ajmal has a record of being elected simultaneously from the two constituencies of South Salmara and Jamunamukh in 2006. Following this, in 2011 election for Assam Legislative Assembly, Ajmal-led AIUDF won 18 seats and came out as the largest opposition party in the state.
