Bongaigaon: The All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) has called for a 12-hour long Assam bandh on January 8. At a press meet held on Thursday in the head office of AKRSU in Bongaigaon, Gokul Barman, AKRSU general secretary, said that the Central Government and Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam Government had betrayed the Koch Rajbongshi people.

“Now the time limit has expired. We can’t wait any more. This BJP government is playing political game with us and working for the interest of Hagrama Mohilary. Hence we have decided to burn the effigies of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister on January 4 in every district. We have also called for a 12-hour long Assam bandh from 5 am on January 8. If our demands were not fulfilled immediately, we will launch massive democratic agitation in the coming days,” he said.
