Ashmita Chaliha Wins Hearts In The Senior National Badminton Championship

GUWAHATI: She might not win the match but Ashmita Chaliha, little star from Assam, won the hearts of the spectators who were present at the Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium during the first semifinal of women singles in the Senior National Badminton championship. There was absolutely no doubt that Sindhu was far ahead then Ashmita in all front but the Assam girl today displayed splendid performance and forced Sindhu to bring out the best to beat her.

After the match Ashmita today admitted that she lost the first game badly because she was little bit nervous. Talking to the media persons fourth seeded said, “In the first game I was little bit nervous and couldn’t play well. However in the second game I got my rhythm and started to play natural games. Unless I didn’t make a few mistakes I could even win the game also.”

Commenting on her experience to play against Olympic medal winner Ashmita said, “The match had shown me that there are a few week areas in my game and I need to work hard at the net.”
