Dibrugarh: The Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) will lend support to the countrywide two-day strike called by the consortium of Indian trade unions on January 8 and January 9 in protest against the Central Government’s anti-labour policy. The general secretary of the ACMS, Rupesh Gowala in a statement issued to the press, called for one-day total cease work in all the tea estates of the State. In support of the proposed countrywide strike, Gowala urged upon all sections of tea labourers and workers to take all initiatives in their respective tea estates to make the strike successful.

Expressing solidarity to the proposed countrywide agitation of the consortium of trade unions of India and employees’ federation, Gowala said the decision to this effect was taken at the convention held at Mavlankar Hall on September 28 this year. The resolutions adopted at the convention include wage hike of the tea labourers and workers. “All necessary steps will be taken to make the programme a grand success in the tea estates of the State,” Gowala added.
