Assam To Be Foreigner-Free Under Narendra Modi: Amit Shah

Ahatguri: National BJP president Amit Shah said that Assam would be a foreigner-free State if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is elected for the second term in a raw.

Addressing an election rally at Ahatguri for party candidate Rupak Sarma, Shah pooh-poohed the Congress-led grand alliance for its failure to project the prime ministerial candidate as yet. Slamming the Opposition parties for their inefficient leadership, Amit Shah said if it is so why the people should vote for the Congress.

“During the past fifteen-year-rule in Assam, the Congress only protected illegal foreigners, instead of driving them away. Congress could never protect or save the country’s borders although it ruled the nation for a long time,” the BJP chief said.

Elaborating, Amit Shah said that the NRC, one of the main clauses of the Assam Accord, is being updated in Assam under the BJP government. “It’s the fruits of sacrifices of hundreds of youths during the Assam Agitation. During their long rule in Assam, Congress did precious little for the implementation of that main clause of the Assam accord. However, the BJP government, within five years, gave the top most priority to implement the Assam Accord,” Shah said, and added: “The BJP is going to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord to protect the language, literature and culture of Assam.”

Highlighting the development in road connectivity in Assam, Amit Shah said that the BJP government brought a sea change with the inauguration of the Dhola-Sadiya and the Bogibeel bridges. He urged the people of the constituency to vote for Rupak Sarma to strengthen the hands of Narendra Modi at the Centre.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Minister, NEDA convener Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP state president Ranjit Kumar Dass, MP Ramen Deka, MP Rajen Guhain, MP Bijaya Chakraborty, party candidate for Nagaon Lok Sabha seat Rupak Sarma, Rama Kanta Deuri, Pijush Hazarika, Angurlata Deka, and others were present at the rally.
