Biswanath Electrocution: APDCL sanctioned Rs 2.5 lakh as compensation to family members

Biswanath: Soon after the death of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) Robin Das due to electrocution, it has come to light that on the day of the incident Biswanath APDCL control room was operated by one identified as Bhaskar Nath.

It is quite shocking to know that Bhaskar Nath is neither an official control operator nor an employee of the APDCL; however, he was present at the control room on the day of the incident, informed sources.

Taking quick action into the incident, APDCL authority also suspended two Linemen namely Damrudhar Bora and Babul Ali from duty on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, APDCL CGM visited the spot and assured to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

APDCL also extended an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh as compensation to the family members of deceased lineman Robin Das who died from electrocution.

CGM also informed that one of the family members of deceased Robin Das will be provided a Government Job.

It is to be noted that APDCL lineman Robin Das died after he was electrocuted while carrying out a repairing work on an electric pole in Biswanath Chariali on Wednesday morning.

Robin Das was working on an 11 KV electric line in the morning hours today when suddenly got stuck in the middle of the electric pole and his body caught fire.

What was more shocking into the incident was the head also got ripped off from the body soon after the incident.

Sources also informed that other field operators of APDCL immediately fled from the spot out of fear.

The furious locals held the power department’s careless attitude responsible for the death of the APDCL employee.

Condemning the incident, the local people demanded an investigation into the matter.

A complaint was lodged on the matter at the electricity department in Biswanath by the local people. Based on a complaint, a few officials of the power department visited the site.

Also, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Biswanath MLA Pramod Borthakur also visited the spot assured investigation and compensation to the family members of the deceased.

Angry local’s gheraoed the ASEB office in Biswanath and chanted slogans against the power department.
