BJP Bought The Election Commission: Mamata Banerjee

Guwahati: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today slammed the Election Commission stating that it had sold out to its brother Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Mamata Banerjee said that she feels bad but she doesn’t have anything more to say and that she is ready to go to jail for saying this. “I am not scared to say the truth,” said Banerjee.

The West Bengal CM’s fiery response came a day after the election commission curtailed campaigning in Bengal by nearly 20 hours. Campaigning in the state for the last phase of polls will come to an end at 10 pm on Thursday instead of 6 pm on Friday.

The election commission has taken the decision after the BJP has lodged a complaint of violence against Trinamool workers on Wednesday evening. It was during a roadshow of BJP President Amit Shah that a pitched street battle had broken out in the heart of Kolkata. The ensuing vandalism claimed the bust of 19th-century reformer and educationist Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.

The Trinamool chief told supporters in Mathurapur that the election commission did not want us to hold any more rallies after Narendra Modi had finished his rallies in the state claiming that the poll body used to be a neutral body before.

She further stated that vandalizing statues is a habit of the BJP and the party has done so in Tripura also. Mamata further refused to take the obligation of rebuilding the statue hours after the Prime Minister announced to rebuild a grand statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.

She stated that why should they take the money of BJP, Bengal has enough to build a statue. She also said that the BJP had posted fake videos of the violence on social media to instigate people and cause riots adding that BJP had destroyed a 200-year-old heritage of West Bengal. Those supporting the party will not be accepted by society.
