BJP takes bold steps to counter terror attacks: Narendra Modi

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his government has taken bold steps to counter terror attacks in contrast to the pusillanimous approach adopted by the earlier Congress-led regimes while dealing with them.

Narendra Modi's remarks comes a day after the serial bomb blasts at the Sri Lankan capital Colombo which killed at least 290 people and 450 injured in a series of eight blasts that took place in churches and luxury hotels.

Addressing a rally at Nasik in Maharashtra, Narendra Modi said that bomb explosion in the neighbouring country of Sri Lanka killed hundreds of people before 2014, in India too, serial explosions took place in Mumbai, Delhi and Ayodhya. Modi asked what did the then Congress government do saying that nothing has been done except condolence meetings and expressed grief. He said that the then Congress government went on crying across the world saying Pakistan did this and that but what did we do? Modi said that it did pusillanimous policy.

The Prime Minister also accused the Congress of destroying the state-run HAL and added that his government increased defence production under the Make in India programme.

Modi further said that some experience electric current without naming any leader, the moment he talks about dynasty and national security. He also said that the opposition was restless after the BJP got the response from the first two phase of Lok Sabha polls.

As Nasil is known for onion production, Modi said in the context that his government is trying to increase the onion storage capacity and reduce tax on their transportation.

He also claimed that the Congress tweaked crop prices to benefit middlemen adding that he had fought a battle against these middlemen.
