Border Security force (BSF) Nabs illegal Migrant Motivator

SHILLONG: At a time when the NRC and the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2016 are the most talked about issues in the entire north-eastern region, the Border Security force (BSF) nabbed a person named Manmohan Majumdar on the charge of motivating Bengali Hindus to come to India.

Majumdar is a resident of Cooch Behar, North Bengal. This revelation was made by the frontier forces after nabbing 11 people, including four minors, from Bagmara, South Garo Hills district. The apprehended persons have been identified as Nirmal Sarkar (34), Pronoy Dey(23) Sapan Barman (33), Kabi Ranjan Dey (25), Nupur Talukdar (22), Suma Sarkar (25), Kana Rai (20) and Indian tout Manmohan Majumdar (48), said the force’s Meghalaya Frontier PRO UK Nayal.

The BSF party also seized Indian currency amounting to Rs 8,000 and Bangladesh currency amounting to Taka 47,000, along with other personal belongings, from their possession. The Bangladeshi nationals are residents of Netrakona and Sunamganj of the neighbouring country.

According to Nayal, Mazumdar entered Bangladesh a week ago and he contacted all Bangladeshi Hindus with the help of one Bangladeshi national – Sukumar Dayal Hajong – asking them to accompany him to settle in India. “He is one of the most wanted persons in Bangladesh who always go to the country for motivating Hindus for migration,” Nayal said, adding, “Mazumdar has also been arrested by the Bangladesh police on earlier occasions.”

Due to non-existence of Indo-Bangladesh border fence at many places, at times Bangladeshi nationals illegally enter India taking advantage of thick vegetation.
