CAIT called day long Bandh today to pay homage to Pulwama Attack Martyrs'

Guwahati: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has called a24-hour nationwide bandh on February 18 to pay respect to the martyrs of Pulwama attack. All commercial establishments will remain close today.

The trade body who has called the bandh to express solidarity to the martyrs' family said that many states such as Karnataka, Gujrat, part of Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharastra, Kerala, Eastern UP and Chattisgarh have observed bandh on Saturday following a bandh called by the trader's body. The bandh has also been observed in the state of Assam as well.

In a statement given by CAIT, it has said that there will be no business activity on Monday and that all the retail and wholesale markets will remain close in the nation's capital on Monday.

CAIT President BC Bhartia in a statement said that the trader's body will observe a day-long fast and will also pay tributes to the martyrs' of Pulwama attack by taking out candlelight march in the respective states. It has also been mentioned that the organization will also raise funds for the families of the martyred CRPF jawans.

The traders' body also mentioned in its statement that in the wake of China who is supporting China, it has decided that they will also launch a national campaign to boycott Chinese goods.

Apart from business activities and commercial establishments which will remain bandh, the public transports, schools, colleges have been kept out of bandh for the convenience of the public.

On February 14, a Pakistan based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad rammed an explosive laden Scorpio SUV into a bus plying with the 78 vehicle convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The suicide attack left more than 40 CRPF jawans martyred in the attack. A 19 year old JeM terrorist named Adil Ahmed Dhar was driving the SUV.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the attack at an all party meet held on February 16 at his residence and adopted a resolution condoning the cross-border terrorism. India also upped diplomatic pressure on Pakistan to dismantle the terror camps in its territory that are used to target India. More than 40 nations condemned the attack. United States' National Security Advisor John Bolton called his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval and said the US supports India's right to self-defence from cross-border terrorism.
