CBI grills Rajeev Kumar, former TMC MP Kunal Ghosh in chit fund scams

Shillong: A battery of senior CBI officials continued with the questioning of Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and former TMC MP Kunal Ghosh for the third day at the office of the CBI Shillong office. Both were quizzed in connection with the Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund scams.

Adding to the top officials who were in Shillong since Saturday, another couple of sleuths reached Shillong on Sunday evening and on Monday to join the questioning process.

The questioning lasted till around 10.30 last night and it resumed again at around 11 am on Monday. Nothing is really known about the progress of the investigation except that the former MP has submitted certain documents to the investigating agency. A source said that Kunal Ghosh and Rajeev Kumar were also made to sit at the same table for questioning by the sleuths.

Another report said that Kumar had insisted on the questioning being videographed but that there is no video recording being done of the interrogation. This however could not be corroborated.

Meanwhile, the else nondescript CBI office in Shillong continued to be under glaring eyes of the national electronic media who stayed put throughout the day to get visuals.
