‘Congress confident of thumping victory’: Sushmita Dev

Our Correspondent

Silchar: Congress is confident of winning seats in the ensuing Panchayat elections. All India Mahila Congress president MP Sushmita Dev said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fast losing its ground across the country. Addressing a press-meet held here at the party office, the parliamentarian said, “Cachar district Congress committee is confident that Congress will win seats and register a thumping victory in the upcoming Panchayat elections. BJP is only capable of tall talks and false promises. A gamut of issues is yet to be addressed and solved by the saffron party. Instead of addressing the issues of development, BJP is focusing on things that do not make sense.”

Taking a dig at the saffron party MP Sushmita Dev said, “BJP is only beating about the bush. They no longer speak on issues related to development, reopening or revival of HPC Paper Mills, jobs, employment opportunities, Mahasadak and bypass road. BJP’s mudslinging politics is getting unacceptable for the masses. Cachar BJP should concentrate and focus on its own roles and responsibilities. Why it is talking about Congress? Their latest speeches and deliberations reflect frustration. These are obvious signs and frustration, despair and despondency. Cachar BJP leaders should oil their mind machines. Congress is performing well and there can be no second thought about it.”

“Only the names of schemes and Yojanas have been changed. No concrete step has been taken to implement those. Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not have issues to address in election rallies. Likewise, state BJP president Ranjit Dass is finding it difficult to speak on vital issues and concerns. The party is desperate and is most probably over confident of winning panchayat elections. Over confidence and desperation can prove dangerous and it will be a chink in their armour. The problem of erosion of river Barak should be addressed at the earliest. We are confident that people will vote for Congress and not for BJP and AGP. They have become a part of circus,” the parliamentarian added to say.

MP Sushmita Dev said, “Moreover, my views which I have shared in the JPC meetings will also come out sooner or later. BJP should not think about my views or my party’s views on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.” MLA Rajdeep Goala also threw a litany of questions before the Chief Minister of Assam and said that he should answer them at the election rally which he will address on Wednesday at Lakhipur in Cachar district. Among others present at the press-meet included Pradip Dey and Partha Ranjan Chakraborty.
