Conrad K Sangma says no elections can be taken for granted

SHILLONG: National president of the National People’s Party (NPP), and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said that no elections can be taken for granted.

In a video statement issued to the media, Conrad while commenting on the chances of his sister Agatha K Sangma, who is contesting from Tura parliamentary seat said, “No election is easy and the first rule of elections is not to be over confident.”

It may be mentioned that Agatha is pitted against Congress candidate and former Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma.

Meanwhile, following the joining of two BJP ministers and 12 sitting legislators in Arunachal Pradesh, the NPP national president said that people in the Northeast have accepted NPP’s ideology.

Conrad said that the joining of the BJP ministers and legislators in Arunachal Pradesh was a positive sign for the NPP in the State.

“We are very happy that all these leaders have expressed their faith in the ideology of the party,” he added.

The NPP national president also said that people have started realising the ideology of the party and are joining.
