Conrad Sangma's swearing-in as MLA on Wednesday

SHILLONG, Sept 3: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will resign as the Member of Parlaiment (MP) on Tuesday, and his tentative swearing-in as the member of the legislative assembly (MLA) is scheduled in Shillong on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister currently in New Delhi could not be reached over the phone. NPP spokesperson James Sangma told The Sentinel,“I think he has already forwarded the resignation papers because things have to happen soon.”

When tried to re-confirm on the resignation papers that are on the way, James refused to pick up the phone. However, another source said that Conrad K Sangma will definitely take the oath as an MLA on Wednesday. Conrad is expected to lead the present Meghalaya Democratic Allaince (MDA) government amidst all the constraints and demands from many quarters. Six months as an interim Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma has had his work cut out as an MP. The expectations has gone larger from the 40-year-old Chief Minister and it was about time to see how he delivers.
