Delhi bound Poorva Express derails near Kanpur

Guwahati: At least 13 people were injured when twelve coaches of the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express derailed near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning.

The incident of the New Delhi bound Poorva Express occurred near Rooma railway station under Maharajpur police station in Kanpur Nagar district at around 12.30 am.

Amit Malviya, North Central Railway Public Relation Officer said that at least 13 people were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to hospital and all the passengers were given relief, assistance, help and medical aid.

The derailed coaches are S8, S9, B1-B5, H1, A1, A2, pantry car and a seating cum luggage rake. The railway authorities have also launched helpline numbers- 1072, 9454403738, 9454401463, 9454400384 and 0512-23333111/113.

After the incident, the railway authorities has diverted 13 trains and cancelled one train. The district magistrate, senior superintendent of police and other senior officials reached the spot and has supervised the rescue operation. An accident relief train and medical teams from Allahabad and Kanpur have also departed to the site to rescue the passengers.

It has further been informed by the railway authorities that the people who didn't suffer from any injury will be taken to Delhi by two trains and the first train has carried 900 passengers which reached the spot at around 11.30 am. The second train has also carried 900 passengers which is expected to reach Delhi by 3 pm.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath has also directed the officials to extend all possible help to the victims and ensure that proper medical treatment is provided to them.
