Demand for repair of roads in Joysagar

Joysagar: Nazira Civic Society (NCS) of Sivasagar district staged a protest on Monday to demand repair of various roads in the sub-division area. NCS president and advocate L. Baruah, and secretary B. Gogoi alleged that there were many PWD roads in the subdivision which were in a deplorable condition and due to the pathetic condition of the roads, people were facing a lot of inconvenience. The protesters also alleged that the busy Joikhamdar road, the Mechagarh-Nazira and Sivasagar connecting road and the Maduri-Bogidol and Joysagar connecting road of Nazira subdivision were in a dilapidated condition and Sivasagar PWD authorities had not responded to the pleas of the people.

Meanwhile, the Sivasagar District Matak Yuba Chatra Sanmilani submitted a memorandum to the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner on Monday where the organization demanded necessary steps for completion of the construction of the Sivasagar Banmukh-Barhoiting PWD rural road by the contractor concerned. The organization alleged that the contractor had left the construction of the road incomplete and the quality of work done so far was poor and sub-standard.
