Director (Onshore) visits ONGC’s Swargdew Siu-Ka-Pha Multi/Specialty Hospital

SIVASAGAR: SK Moitra, Director (Onshore), ONGC, on his maiden visit to ONGC Assam Asset, after taking over the charge of Director (Onshore), visited the upcoming Swargdew Siu-Ka-Pha Multi Specialty Hospital in Sivasagar to review the progress of the project, straightway after arriving, according top priority to the ONGC’s flagship CSR Project over any other engagements.

He was accompanied by Executive Director, Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset, SD Maske and other Senior Executives of the Asset. The Director appreciated the fast-tracked progress of the project, praising the quality and speed of the job being executed by M/S Sharpoorji & Pallonji Construction Ltd. (SPCL) and M/S Tata Consultancy as consultancy partner.

With the aim to bring excellent, ethical, affordable and compassionate healthcare to the people of Assam and North-East, Swargdew Siu-Ka-Pha Multi Specialty Hospital is being set-up at Rajabari, Sivasagar as part of ONGC’s unique CSR initiative. The biggest CSR initiative of ONGC till date, the hospital is being set-up in phases. With the OPD already functional, the 1st phase will be commissioned shortly.

Speaking while reviewing the work progress, Moitra, at the outset, wished the people of Assam a very happy Bhogali Bihu. He also wished the people of Assam a very happy & prosperous New Year 2019. Moitra added that although the prime responsibility of ONGC is to ensure ‘Energy Security’ of the Nation, yet ONGC has always been contributing towards welfare of the society.

ONGC’s proactive CSR activities continues to cater to the developmental needs across various focus areas, making a positive, tangible difference in the lives of the people, especially in and around its operational areas. He said that the hospital is dedicated to the people of Assam & North-East and affordable & professional healthcare will be provided with the spirit of service to mankind. The Director urged early completion of the project so that the people of Assam & North-East can be benefitted.

He also expressed that gradually the hospital will be developed into a big healthcare institution, targeting to be among the best in India. It may be mentioned that the construction work for the ONGC Multi-specialty ‘Chaolung Sukapha Hospital’ commenced at the project site Rajabari, Sivasagar District, Assam on November 23, 2017 and is going on at full-swing presently. The upcoming multi-specialty hospital is being built by ONGC under its CSR initiative in association with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidhyakia Prathisthan (BAVP), a non-profit health care organization, at a cost of Rs. 313 crore.

With the OPD already functional, the 1st phase will be commissioned shortly. Departments of Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Pulmonary Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedic, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, an operational blood bank and dialysis facility are envisaged in the 2nd phase. The Director further conveyed that ONGC Management has always accorded top priority to Assam and assured that in 2019 special focus is being given to Assam. He expressed happiness that as a New Year gift, 308 numbers of posts for recruitment by ONGC Assam Asset (non-executive level) has been announced/published on the very first day of 2019.

Besides, ONGC would be investing about Rs.6,000 crore in drilling 200 developmental wells across fields under ONGC Assam Asset in Sivasagar & Charaideo districts. The wells are proposed to be drilled during the next seven years starting from FY 2018-19 and all necessary statutory clearances are being obtained.

The investment planned will lead to increase in production from the state. ONGC is further giving impetus to its activities in alignment with Prime Minister’s call for reducing import by 10% by 2022 and North East Hydrocarbon Vision 2030. SK Moitra, Director (Onshore), expressed sincere thanks to the State government, district administration, police authority, media, socio-cultural organisations, local people and all stakeholders and sought support for smooth & uninterrupted operations of the company. He conveyed that ONGC in Assam is poised for increased support to developmental activities, to benefit local people and is a ‘Partner in Progress’ of the State and once again thanked all stakeholders for its support and cooperation.
