District President's Chamber vandalized by Yuva Congress Members in Biswanath

Biswanath: Sensation in Biswanath’s Rajiv Bhawan (Congress Office) after several party workers and Yuva Congress members in the area claimed for irregularities in the selection process of candidates ahead of the Panchayat Polls in the state.

As per a report, District President Dilip Baruah’s chamber was vandalized by the party workers for his alleged one-sided style of functioning in the party.

The party workers also alleged that district President Dilip Baruah is involved in distributing tickets to his close aides for the upcoming Panchayat Elections.

Both the panellist's of the selection committee including former Minister Nurjamal Sarkar and Biswanath Yuva Congress President Albert Phukan were not taken into confidence by Dilip Baruah while distributing the tickets, claimed the party workers and Biswanath Yuva Congress members today before the media.

They further alleged that Dilip Baruah is involved in giving the away the tickets in exchange for secret transactions of money.

Angry party members also broke the chairs and window panes in the Rajiv Bhawan today and locked down Dilip Baruah’s chamber room.

Shockingly, this incident took place ahead of the Panchayat polls in the state. The polls have been scheduled in two phase’s i.e on December 5 and December 9 in 26 districts and 14 civil sub-divisions. The counting will take place on December 12.

A total of 1,56,41,456 voters will exercise their franchise out of which 8,12,38,35 are male and 7,51,76,21 are female voters.

A total of 23,505 polling stations will be set up out of which 8243 polling stations have been marked as ‘sensitive’ and 3665 as ‘very sensitive’.
