Eminent social worker GL Agarwala passes away

Guwahati: Noted and much popular social worker of the State, GL Agarwala is no more as the generous personality took his last breath at 4:30 PM on Thursday in his residence. The social worker was born on September 19, 1940 in Barpeta Road.

Late Agarwala embraced death due to his prolonged illness that he has been suffering from for some months. He had been undergoing treatment for his illness in Nemcare Hospital. Agarwala, at the time of his death, was 79 years old who had lost his wife only two months.

Apart from being a social worker and charitable character, he also was chairman and MD of G L Publication which is one of the top publishers of Assam. He also was the chairman and MD of popular newspapers like Amar Asom, Purvanchal Prahari and others.

The sudden demise of the noted personality has taken aback the political, social and intellectual people with the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, AASU chief advisor Samujjwal Bhattacharya, Assembly chairman Hitendra Nath Goswami and many other noted people conveying their deep condolence.
