FIR Lodged against Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya at Paltan Bazaar Police Station

Guwahati: An FIR was lodged against Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya at Paltan Bazaar Police Station by the Commercial Organization ‘Sagar Bizz plex’ after Minister Bhattacharya blocked the passage passing through his miyadi patta (permanent land settlement) land in Ulubari.

Assam police force and CRPF were spotted outside the residence of the minister today morning.

As per the allegation by the commercial organization, the State Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya had allowed the Commercial Organization to use the passage passing through his 'Patta' land for commercial use, but, blocked the passage later for the organization.

On the other hand, Speaking to the media, Education Minister, Siddhartha Bhattacharya said, “This is my own miyadi patta land (permanent land settlement). It is my call whom I will allow and whom I will not to use the passage. Moreover, the Builders before the selling the land behind my backyard to the Sagar Bizz Complex had left no space for their entry, later, they requested me to allow some space in my part of land for commercial use till they get a permanent solution into the matter. But, I have observed that they are being used for some other unfavorable activities which I will not entertain anymore. I can show the agreement.”

It is to be noted that a Patta is a legal document issued by the Government in the name of the actual owner of a particular plot of land. It can also be issued for lands having buildings or individual houses etc. constructed on them. But for these types of properties, it can be shown that the property is being continuously occupied which is not possible for any barren tract of land.

In most cases, it can be obtained from the Tehsildar’s office in the concerned administrative district. If there are several owners for a single property, separate Pattas will not be issued. In such cases, there will be one Patta with the name of all the co-owners mentioned clearly. It is also important to remember that Patta will not be issued for lands having undivided shares.
