Shillong, July 12: Former members of ANVC(B) have threatened to resort to open protest against the State government for its alleged failure to meet with the assurances made in the rehabilitation packages. Home Minister James Sangma has been alleged to be neglecting the issue.

The ANVC(B) is a Garo militant outfit that surrendered before inking a pack with the State and Union Government four years ago. Displaying its frustration for not making available the rehabilitation packages to its 365 cadres after the formal laying down of arms in Tura, the former secretary of the disbanded outfit Deepan Momin stated on Thursday, “Our chairman wrote to James Sangma (Home Minister) and even talked to him through phone but his ‘niatgenba’ which means ‘I will see’ is what can be termed as politician’s promise.”

Momin further said, “Four years we have been neglected and still they simply make excuses to look into our problem.”
