Good show by Congress in Amguri, Gaurisagar

GAURISAGAR: The Congress has got the better of the AGP in the panchayat poll in Amguri, an LAC constituency being held by AGP MLA Prodip Hazarika. Gossip in the State was that after the sudden demise of former Amguri MLA and former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta the strength of the party was gloomy there.

However, defying all odds the Congress has done wonders under the dynamic leadership of Anjan Dutta’s elder daughter and Assam Youth Congress Committee vice president Ankita Dutta. The Congress has won maximum gaon panchayat seats in the LAC segment. The gaon panchayat seats that have gone to the Congress in the LAC segments are – Kawaimari, Khanamukh , Morabazar, Deoraja, Pengera, Borbam, Barahibari, Lalim Chapori, Namtidole and Namtiali. On the other hand, out of the four zila parishad seats in the LAC segment the Congress won Amguri Zila Parishad. The candidate is Lipimoni Dutta.
