Governor’s Golf Cup held at AREPTA Laitkor, Shillong

SHILLONG: Assam Rifles organized the annual Governor’s Golf Cup 2018 at the AREPTA Laitkor, Shillong yesterday.

As a part of the “Khelo India Mission” initiative the event aimed to spread the bonhomie and comaraderie amongst the young participants from various organizations.

It also made an endeavour to promote the spirit of sportsmanship in the Northeast. The tournament witnessed participation of multiple teams from Assam Rifles, Air Force, Army, BSF, CRPF and also from the Shillong Golf Course.

Addressing the audience, the Chief Guest Tathagata Roy, Governor of Meghalaya, appreciated the contributions of Assam Rifles towards ushering normalcy in NE states as also towards the socio- economic development of the area.

He stressed that the Force has always demonstrated immense professional acumen and competence suitably laced with selfless commitments of its leaders and men.

The Governor complimented the Assam Rifles for an unblemished record in the field of human rights and also lauded the contribution of the Force pursuing various developmental activities in border areas. The Governor also urged the audience, particularly the youth, to maintain a healthy life style and stay away from all social evils.

Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, Director General Assam Rifles expressed his gratitude to the Governor for gracing the occasion and rendering requisite impetus to sports in the NE Region.
