Jimochayan (Deori) People’s Party candidate Purna Kanta Deori withdraws candidature

LAKHIMPUR: On the final day for the withdrawal of candidature on Thursday, one out of the 12 candidates who filed their nomination as MP candidates for Lakhimpur HPC to fight in the first phase poll of the ensuing general election, withdrew his candidature.

The candidate is Purna Kanta Deori who filed his nomination representing Jimochayan (Deori) People’s Party. With this, the number of contesting candidates in the HPC decreased to 11. These contesting candidates are- Anil Borgohain of Indian National Congress, Anup Pratim Baruah of Nationalist Congress Party, Amiya Kumar Hundique of Communist Party of India (Marxist), Arup Kalita of Communist Party of India, Pradan Baruah of Bharatiya Janata Party, Ubaidur Rahman of Asom Jana Marcha, Dilip Moran of Assam Dristi Party, Bhupen Narah of Voter’s Party International, Hem Kanta Miri of Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), independent candidates Ambaz Uddin and Prabhu Lal Vaisnava.
