GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) district administration and the police administration had a meeting with Additional Deputy Commissioner Gunajit Kashyap in the chair on Tuesday for a security bandobast during the month-long Shravani Festival (Bolbom), beginning from July 16, 2019.
Besides top police and civil officials, the meeting was also attended by representatives from Shukreshwar and Basistha Temple committees. The meeting laid stress on the security aspect through the deployment of police personnel, home guard and civil defence personnel, NCC cadets, NGO workers and volunteers.
Facilities to be provided to the devotees like adequate illumination, food and drinks, barricading the river so as to prevent devotees from going to deeper areas etc were discussed in detail. The meeting decided deployment of police personnel, including women police and river police personnel. A decision for night patrol in the temples – both Basistha and Shukreshwar – has also been taken at the meeting. Uninterrupted supply of water and electricity was given thrust at the meeting for smooth functioning of all wings engaged on duty for the festival. Other issues discussed at the meeting were repair of roads, streetlights and keeping a close watch on ban on plastics, besides maintaining cleanliness.
