Karunanidhi Burial: DMK Allowed to Bury their Deceased Leader at Marina Beach in Chennai

DMK President and five-time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi (Muthuvel Karunanidhi), who passed away yesterday evening, is set to be buried later today at the Anna Memorial along the iconic Marina beach in Chennai. The Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court has passed the permission to bury the eldest and widely loved DMK leader at the Marina beach. It was only in last evening at 6:10 pm when the 94 years old popular leader breathed his last at Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital.

A leader with such a huge range of followers and admirers, the news of Karunanidhi’s death came as a shock and saddest news for the DMK supporters who gathered at a huge quantity in the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai.

A revolutionary leader of the Dravidian movement, an Indian writer and politician with a record of being Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for five terms, i.e, for twenty years between 1969 and 2011, M. Karunanidhi deserves all the love, respect and last homage of the people coming from different walks of life. It is not only about people coming from the Tamilnadu, but from other parts of the country as well who paid respects to the departed leader. President of India Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi are among the top political leaders paying tribute to the deceased.

Before the final decision of deciding over the place to bury the DMK leader, there raised quite a howl among the supporters as the AIADMK government rejected their demand for a place along Marina beach. as a subsequent move, the DMK's moved to appeal to the Madras High Court with the acting Chief Justice finally passing a judgment in favour of the DMK's.

Born on 3 June 1924, Karunanidhi has made contributions to the Tamil literature as well. His contributions consisted of stories, plays, novels, and a multiple-volume memoir.
