KHADC CEM to meet Hima Mylliem, legal experts

SHILLONG, June 7: The Executive Committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Thursday held a meeting to discuss on the present law and order situation in the capital city pertaining to the demand for relocation or shifting the residents from Sweepers’ Lane.

After the Executive Committee meeting, the CEM of KHADC PN Syiem informed reporters that the EC has taken a decision to hold a meeting with Hima Mylliem and with legal experts to study the documents which will be provided by the Hima and to find a solution.

When asked, Syiem informed that the meeting between experts and officials from the Hima will be held soon.

“After we had sough clarification from the Hima Mylliem, the Hima had then submitted a detailed report on the issue of sweepers’ colony and we had discussed today on what next step could to be taken by the District Council,” he said.

He said after going through the papers submitted by the Hima, the Executive Committee has decided to convene a meeting.

Asked, on the next course of action by the Council, Syiem said that he would not be able to comment on this matter since the meeting with Hima Mylliem and legal experts has to be held first before a decision on the next step on this issue could be decided.
