Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) fields Glenbert Khongwir

SHILLONG: A few days after the Election Commission of India (ECI) have recognized the leadership of Adelbert Nongrum to lead the regional party in Meghalaya, the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has announced the name of Glenbert Khongwir as the party candidate to contest the MDC election in 2019 from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency. The newly recognized body of KHNAM has also announced that THS Bonney will be receiving a party ticket to contest the MP election in 2019.

Addressing reporters on Monday, Nongrum said, “The ECI has also identified my residence as the new party office of KHNAM.”

He informed that in the new executive committee of the party in a meeting held on November 24, had decided that Glenbert Khongwir will contest the MDC election from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency and THS Bonney as its MP candidate in 2019.

“We will however issue tickets only to those candidates who has a strong ideology and we don’t want to accept those candidates who will contest from the party and later after winning will defect to another party,” he added.

He said that the party will not be issuing tickets to defectors who are jumping from one party to another after winning the election on the party ticket which is common in KHADC and JHADC.
