Lakadong to contest District Council elections, Shillong

A REPORTER

SHILLONG: The Laitumkhrah Block Congress has decided to field Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh’s husband, Fantin Joseph Lakadong from Laitumkhrah-Malki constituency for next year’s district council elections. The decision to field Lakadong was taken by the Block Congress Committee (BCC).

When contacted, West Shillong constituency MLA, Ampareen Lyngdoh confirmed that the block Congress recommended his name since a vacancy arose in the party after Neil Antonio War left the party. She also said that the Congress would like to retain the MDC seat.

The Congress MLA from West Shillong also expressed confidence that the people will again repose their faith on a member from her family to represent the constituency in the district council. It may be mentioned that Lakadong’s candidature will have to be approved by the Congress high command in the state.
